This is a series of photographs with a Downy Woodpecker working on excavating a
nest cavity in a dead tree. DSB117-121 show him after having gone into the
cavity, prying loose some chips and then coming back out and tossing them over
his shoulder. DSB122-126 show the woodpecker looking around. DSB127-130 show him ducking into the cavity, and bringing out more chips to toss away. You are hearing a Downy calling, it seemed to be responding to a nearby Robin. |
