Virginia Dayflower Photograph

2007 Photograph, Virginia Dayflower (Commelina virginica, Spiderwort family), Occoquan Bay NWR, Woodbridge, Virginia © 2007.
Each flower lasts but one day, hence the name.  This species is similar to the Erect Dayflower and Asiatic Dayflower, but the obvious difference is the large, blue lower petal.
