Wat Mahawanaram, วัดมหาวนาราม, also called Wat Pah Yai, วัดป่าใหญ่, is the principal temple
of Ubon Ratachathani. Built in 1807 (B.E. 2350), it houses Phra Chao Yai Indra Plang, พระเจ้าใหญ่-อินทร์แปลง, a large Buddha image in the attitude of subduing Mara. The image is regularly worshipped by people in Ubon and from neighboring provinces.
